Captain02-Command

The Captain’s main responsibility is the safety of the ship and the crew. They make all final decisions and give orders to the various crew members to be carried out. The Captain oversees mission completion and is responsible for the success or failure of the crew. They are also the first contact with any alien species if there is not an ambassador present.

First Officer02-Command

The First Officer is responsible for the efficiency of the crew. When the Captain gives an order, it is the First Officer’s job to ensure that order is carried out by the crew member. They monitor the ship’s status, send mission reports to Starfleet, maintain crew discipline, and advise the captain with decisions.  Ultimately they help to keep the entire crew happy and working towards the same goal.  If the captain is injured or killed, the First Officer takes command of the ship.

Galileo

Through sensors equipment they are responsible for gathering information about our surroundings and relaying that information to the rest of the crew. Basically, they are the eyes of the ship. They have the ability to scan and obtain specific details useful to making informed decisions.

Phoenix

Through sensors equipment they are responsible for gathering information about our surroundings and relaying that information to the rest of the crew. Basically, they are the eyes of the ship. They have the ability to scan and obtain specific details useful to making informed decisions. They also have access to specialized short range, long range, and science probes. These probes can be equipped and launched to gather information and data, establish maps, perform reconnaissance, and find out more about the ship’s surroundings.

Magellan

They operate the Magellan’s tractor beam emitters.  If no Helm officer is present, they are also in charge of Helm’s responsibilities.

Tactical09-Tactical copy

The Tactical officer is responsible for the ship’s defense systems. They handle the shields and weapons, including the phasers and torpedoes.  A well-trained Tactical officer uses discretion and advises the Captain when the use deadly force is necessary.  They are our first line of protection and are always ready to defend the ship and her crew.

Odyssey

Additionally any probes constructed by the sensors officer are launched via the torpedo tube.  The tractorbeam, exocomp automated robots, and stealth field are also managed by the Tactical officer.

Galileo

Additionally, as a stealth ship, the Galileo is equipped with hacking technology which allows the Tactical officer to access other ships computer systems. It is also their duty to monitoring the stealth levels of the ship to avoid detection.

Phoenix

In addition, they direct the efforts of the security officers who are the internal defenses of the ship.  This includes relaying orders and handling reports from the other security officers who work to maintain the safety of the crew.

Magellan

The Tactical officer also has the responsibility to research and develop specialized systems and weapons. By completing these projects, they will have access to more advanced weaponry including the planet destroying weapon THX-1138 as well as a group of fighters known as the CRM-114.

Operations06-Operations

The Operations officer is in charge of the special functions or “operations” that are specific to each ship. One such function is the use of transporters to move objects or lifeforms on and off of the ship.

Phoenix

They also control the ship’s communication systems and are responsible for all outgoing and incoming communications. They decode received messages and pass all important information on to the Captain and First Officer. Using Long Range communications, the Communications officer is able to keep Starfleet up to date on the ship’s status and request help if needed.  Lastly it is their responsibility to manage the ship’s tractor beam.

Galileo

They also control the ship’s communication systems and are responsible for all outgoing and incoming communications. They decode received messages and pass all important information on to the Captain and First Officer. Using Long Range communications, the Communications officer is able to keep Starfleet up to date on the ship’s status and request help if needed.

Magellan

Known as the Chief of Operations, their responsibilities also include managing all ship traffic to and from the Magellan with docking ports and the shuttle bay.  This includes handling cargo and other ship supplies used for repairs and improvements.  Operations also maintains the subspace field alignment, computer terminals, and user access and privileges for the ship.

Odyssey

They control the ship’s power and distribute it to each major system. If the power is not properly balanced it can cause undue stress on ship systems.  They manage the ship’s cargo and other supplies used for repairs and improvements.  Lastly they operate the remote access which enables special functions on the ship.

Engineer04-Engineering

The Engineer is responsible for maintaining the functionality of ship systems.  They operate the engineering panels within the ship that can access the systems through physical wires, switches, and buttons.  When necessary they can help by performing temporary ship repairs.

Odyssey

The engineer is also in charge of the ship’s coolant regulator. When the engines, main reactor, or phasers are overheating, it is the engineer’s responsibility to flush coolant to these systems.

Magellan & Phoenix

They control the ship’s power and distribute it to each major system. If the power is not properly balanced it can cause undue stress on ship systems.

Helm06-Operations

The Helm officer acts as both navigator and pilot for the ship.  They are in charge of setting the course, using the impulse and warp engines, and precise maneuvering with the thrusters.  Their primary role is to make sure we arrive safely at our destination.

Phoenix

In addition to their piloting responsibilities they manage the ship’s shuttle bay and two shuttlecraft.  All of the Phoenix’s supplies and any other cargo are processed through the shuttle bay.

Magellan

The Magellan is fitted with an experimental Transwarp Drive.  This powerful system allows the Magellan to cover great distances in a relatively short amount of time.  The Helm officer must make sure that systems are properly powered and aligned for a safe transwarp jump.

Sensors07-Science

The Sensors officer is responsible for gathering information about our surroundings and relaying that information to the rest of the crew. Basically, they are the eyes of the ship. They have the ability to scan and obtain specific details useful to making informed decisions.

Odyssey

They also have access to specialized short range, long range, and science probes. These probes can be equipped and launched to gather information and data, establish maps, perform reconnaissance, and find out more about the ship’s surroundings.

Magellan

If there is no science officer the sensors officer is in charge of learning how to equip, launch, and operate the probes.

Communications03-Communications copy

The Communications officer is responsible for all outgoing and incoming communications.  It is their responsibility to decode received messages and relay all important classified information directly to the First Officer. Using Long Range communications, they are able to contact far away groups which includes keeping Starfleet up to date on the ship’s status. They can use Short range communications to connect lines to planetary bases, starbases, or other ships.

Odyssey

They also are capable of intercepting and decode communications signals not intended for the Odyssey.

Phoenix

They are also responsible for relaying any internal messages or orders to the officers working through all four decks of the ship.

Magellan

They are also responsible for relaying any internal messages or orders to the many officers working through all 25 decks of the ship.  Their equipment allows them to search for weak signals as well as relay sensitive information over great distances.

Damage Control04-Engineering

The Damage Control Officers are responsible for keeping the ship in working order.  Ship maintenance and repairs are processed by these officers and their team of specialists.  Sometimes this may require a manual override where they use several override panels to repair the system.  This position is unique to the Magellan and depending on the crew size there are often two officers at this position.

Security08-Security

The Security Officers are responsible for all internal defenses. As Chief of Security, they are responsible for relaying orders and handling reports from their team of security officers who work to maintain the safety of the crew.  Should intruders board the ship, Security is responsible for their apprehension and fair processing.  They are the first line of defense to our command officers should any intruders make it to the bridge.  This position is unique to the Magellan and depending on the workload there are often two officers at this position.

Science07-Science

The science officer has access to probes including specialized science and defensive probes.  These probes can be equipped and launched to gather information and data, establish maps, perform reconnaissance, and find out more about the ship’s surroundings.  Probes can be built for a wide variety of functions dependent on the needs of the situation and the ingenuity of the science officer.  Due to the importance of securing any scientific discoveries the ship is equipped with an advanced records system.  This position is unique to the Magellan.
